Legal Validity Across Platforms

The primary objective was to expand the FAD® (Autograph Signature) ecosystem by designing fully responsive mobile-web and desktop versions of the application. The new platforms had to be built using standard web technologies for iOS Safari and Android Chrome, while meeting three critical requirements: achieving full feature parity with the existing native app, delivering an optimal and intuitive user experience on any device, and ensuring the legal validity of all documents signed through the web interface.

As the design lead, my role was to spearhead this strategic initiative, ensuring the web-based experience was as seamless, secure, and powerful as its native counterpart.

Our Process

We employed a structured, end-to-end design methodology to translate the complexities of a native application into a responsive web environment. Key activities included:

  • Strategic Alignment and Research: We facilitated Design Thinking workshops to define the project’s vision and conducted extensive industry benchmarking and client research. We followed this by leading user research to understand the specific contexts in which users would opt for a web-based solution.
  • Architecture and Iterative Design: I led the definition of the information architecture to ensure a logical and consistent experience across all platforms. We then planned and ran iterative design sprints to tackle the unique challenges of a responsive interface.
  • Systemization and Validation: We established a comprehensive design system and component library to ensure consistency and scalability between the native and web versions. We conducted rigorous usability testing sessions on multiple devices to validate the user experience.
  • Quality Assurance: Before hand-off, we performed a meticulous final design QA to confirm that every feature was working as expected and that the interface was pixel-perfect.

Key Achievements

The project successfully expanded FAD®’s reach, delivering a robust web experience that met all user and business goals, solidifying its position as a market leader.

  • Achieved 100% Feature Parity: We successfully preserved 100% of the native application’s functionality across the web and desktop platforms, ensuring a consistent and reliable experience for all users, regardless of how they access the service.
  • Enhanced User Efficiency: The new responsive design reduced the average document creation and e-signing time, cutting the mean task duration from 4 minutes to under 3 minutes and improving overall user satisfaction.
  • Drove Rapid User Adoption: The web application achieved an impressive 60% adoption rate within the first month post-launch, confirming the market demand for a flexible, browser-based signing solution.
